Derwent Valley Rotary Club have issued a “massive thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the festive season with our club. The sun was hot but we had a really great day, and it was wonderful to see the months of planning from our club come to life. Was a really wonderful day and a great display of our community at its best. We hope to see you next year!”
The annual parade up and down the main street of New Norfolk is an initiative by the New Norfolk Business Alliance who continue to do great work for the town by promoting events such as these.
The parade on Saturday 8th December, consisted of a range of floats from local organisations, groups and business operators as well as many people dressed up in festive gear and other apparel that added a splash of colour to High Street. Local radio station Tyga FM provided a live broadcast of the event and the Derwent Valley Concert Band and Derwent Scottish Pipe Band were among the groups providing the musical soundtrack.
Winners of the award for ‘Best Presentation’ were New Norfolk Public School with runners-up being the Tasmanian Chinese Buddhist Academy and the MoCo Dragon Boat Club.
