At Stanton Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast, we provide our guests with a relaxed, down to earth environment from which to explore all the great things the Derwent Valley and surrounds has to offer or do nothing at all.
You will be made to feel welcome here whether you are travelling by yourself, with a partner or in a group, whether you are touring the region, attending a cooking course at the Agrarian Kitchen just 10 minutes away or dining at their Eatery which is even closer.
When the lovely farmhouse at Stanton was first built in 1817, she was a typical rectangular symmetrical unpainted Georgian house, built from convict bricks produced on the property. It is a Tasmanian Heritage Listed property noted as being significant to the history of Tasmania and therefore it must be protected and managed for future generations. Your kids will love to explore the paddocks, ponds, winter creek and feed the menagerie (always under your supervision so they stay safe). The big paddock is great for kite, drone flying, kicking a football or chasing sheep. We’ll supply the sheep.
Tasmania has the most wonderful bounty of fresh locally grown produce and that is what we serve our guests. Find a spot to enjoy a cheese platter and wine on the veranda after a day of sightseeing and then snuggle up in the Drawing Room in front of the open fire with port and pudding in the evening.
When you are here, on the edge of the world, you’ll probably want to eat, drink, and experience all that this southern island has to offer. We think you will find it when you stay@Stanton and like us, fall in love with the real taste and feel of Tasmania too.
